Dedicated cloud on Apache CloudStack, your spec

Your own Apache CloudStack cloud on our KVM hosts and all-flash HPE 3PAR SAN: self-service, API-driven, patched host by host with your VMs untouched.

Some organisations want more than virtual machines: they want a cloud of their own, with self-service, templates, tenant networks, firewalling and an API their teams and customers can use. We build Apache CloudStack clouds for exactly that, each one designed around the client who will run on it, on our hardware, in our datacenters.

What it is

Apache CloudStack is a mature open source cloud platform: a management layer that turns a pool of hypervisors and storage into self-service infrastructure. We build it per client, to the client's specification: a private cloud for your own departments, a platform you resell to your customers, or anything in between.

How we build it

Designed around you. Before anything is racked we agree the shape of your cloud: zones, network model (basic, advanced, isolated or shared), service offerings, templates, storage classes (all-flash HPE 3PAR SAN by default, with HPE 3PAR Adaptive Optimization on 10K SAS available for high-capacity bulk workloads at a more cost-efficient price point), who gets self-service and what the API exposes.

KVM hosts on enterprise hardware. Compute runs on KVM hypervisors on HPE and Dell servers, with storage on our all-flash HPE 3PAR SAN (plus optional Adaptive Optimization 10K SAS pools for bulk storage) reached over redundant fabrics and ShapeBlue's commercial CloudStack support behind the platform. The same sizing rules we use everywhere apply to every service offering: no instance bigger than one CPU socket, and no swap on instances.

A hardened front door. The portal and API can be kept off the public internet entirely; where they must be public they sit behind HAProxy with brute-force defence at the edge.

Patched host by host, instances untouched. Security advisories are applied by a written runbook: hosts one at a time with an automatic halt on failure, and virtual router updates decided by diffing the actual scripts rather than trusting the platform's flag. Customer instances are never stopped or restarted by the procedure.

What it protects you from

  • A one-size cloud that fits nobody's network model or billing model.
  • A security fix left open because applying it feels risky.
  • Platform upgrades that restart your users' instances.
  • Building and operating a cloud platform team of your own.

Why EuroVPS

  • CloudStack built to your specification, not a fixed product with your logo on it.
  • Enterprise hardware and all-flash HPE 3PAR SAN by default under every zone, with Adaptive Optimization 10K SAS available for bulk storage.
  • Security fixes applied by a tested procedure that does not touch running instances.
  • A team that also runs OLVM and OpenShift, so the platform choice stays yours.

FAQ

Can I resell instances from my CloudStack to my own customers? Yes. Multi-tenant self-service with accounts, domains and quotas is what CloudStack is built for, and we design it around your model.

Will I get API access? Yes, the full CloudStack API, exposed publicly or only on your private network, as you specify.

Who patches it? We do, by a written procedure that keeps your instances running.

CloudStack or OLVM? CloudStack when your users need self-service and tenant networking; OLVM when you want a managed virtualization platform. We build both, and we will recommend honestly.
