Engineer-led migrations

We move your
servers for you.

Off the cloud, off an old box, or off a VMware renewal you would rather not sign. Our engineers plan the work with you, carry out the move, and keep managing what comes next.

Start with what you have

A different starting point.
The same careful work.

What you are leaving changes the plan. We work through the reason for the move and the requirements for what comes next.

01

The cloud

Your traffic is predictable. Your bill should be, too. We review the workload and work out what belongs on dedicated hardware.

02

A VMware renewal

Before signing the next licensing quote, look at a move onto managed bare-metal virtualization we run for you.

Plan around the renewal
03

Old hardware

The machine is approaching end of life and spares are getting harder to find. Plan the replacement while you can choose the timing.

Another datacenter

A contract ending, a building closing, or a change of plan. We map the dependencies and move the environment with you.

The work, in order

Four steps.
Our engineers do the work.

You review the plan and choose the window. We handle the preparation, the move and the checks on the other side.

  1. 01

    Review the setup

We map what runs where, how the services connect and what needs to keep working. The dependencies shape the plan.

  2. 02

    Agree the plan

You see the sequence, checks, expected downtime and rollback plan before committing. We agree the migration window with you.

    You approve the window
  3. 03

    Make the move

Our engineers carry out the work and stay on the call. We check the applications and data before routing traffic to the new setup.

    The agreed cutover window
  4. 04

    Keep a way back

The old environment stays in place until the new one is validated. We agree when it is safe to retire it.

    Retire only after validation

We agree the expected length of the interruption for your setup before the move.

An agreed interruption

You need a window.
We tell you how long.

Usually minutes. We estimate the downtime after looking at your setup, explain what determines it and agree when it should happen.

The examples here come from individual migrations. Your applications, data and network decide what is possible for yours.

Talk through your move

A running virtual machine · one migration

~3 min

The full move, with a pause of under a second during the transfer.

A publisher platform · one cutover

~5 min

The customer-visible window while DNS changed to the new platform.

Past examples, not a service-level guarantee. We confirm the plan for your workload.

More than copying the files

Make sure it runs.
Then make the switch.

For one national publisher, we rebuilt the platform for more traffic as part of the move. Before it received real readers, we tested it with 20,000 simulated users.

Before you move

Questions,
answered straight.

Have a specific environment in mind? Tell us what runs on it and what is prompting the move.

Usually a few minutes, but we estimate the window after reviewing your setup. You see it before committing and choose when the move happens.

you’re running.

We will tell you how we would move it, what needs preparation, and how long your setup would be down. Start with your current environment.
