Network monitoring and evidence

Every router, switch, firewall and link we run is watched continuously, alarms reach an engineer in seconds, and the data is kept. When you ask what happened, when, and on whose side, we answer from measurements. We also sweep the network when nothing is known to be wrong, because that is when quiet problems are cheapest to fix.
What it is
Three views of the same network, combined: the inside view from the devices themselves, the log view from everything they report, and the outside view of how the internet actually reaches us. Customer circuits get a fourth: a dedicated probe whose results your own staff can see.
How we build it
- Zabbix for state. Zabbix on dedicated hardware watches every device and service we are responsible for, with a severity gate so the alarms that page an engineer are the ones that need a human.
- Graylog for events. Every device ships its logs into Graylog, sorted into per-purpose streams with normalised device names, and signature alerts reach our operations chat for the failures that matter: BGP neighbour down, link down, BFD down, VPN crypto events, power, fan and temperature faults, storage network errors and firewall table exhaustion.
- Observium for the long view. SNMP graphs for every switch, router and power device.
- RIPE Atlas for the outside view. Our RIPE Atlas anchor is measured continuously by probes all over the world. When a carrier changes something, we see its effect from outside our own network, from the places your users actually are.
- Sweeps with nothing known wrong. Routine read-only health sweeps cover environmentals, BGP and EVPN state, vPC consistency, optics and interface errors. They also cross-check two things a device cannot report about itself: whether its logs are actually arriving, and whether its configuration is actually being backed up. A watchdog re-asserts logging configuration on a timer.
- A probe on every customer circuit that needs one. Latency, jitter and throughput in both directions, plus application-level checks, every minute, stored permanently, on a dashboard the customer's staff can log into. Probe traffic is excluded from the circuit statistics, so the evidence stays clean.
What it protects you from
- Disputes with carriers or third parties settled by opinion instead of data.
- Hearing about a problem from your customers before you hear about it from us.
In practice
Carrier maintenance, measured from outside. When a transit carrier takes circuits down for maintenance, we do not rely on its notice or our own counters alone. We measure the event from RIPE Atlas probes worldwide, see traffic reconverge onto our other carriers, and know exactly how long it lasted and who, if anyone, noticed.
A circuit your own staff can watch. A publisher's office connects to its platform over a private line that we probe every minute in both directions. Its staff log into the same dashboard we use, so any conversation about that circuit starts from shared data.
Why EuroVPS
- Zabbix, Graylog, Observium and RIPE Atlas together: state, events, trends and the outside view.
- Proactive sweeps, not just reactive alerts.
- Evidence you can see, on circuits that matter to you.
- A monitoring chain that is itself monitored and tested.
FAQ
Will you tell me when something affects my service? Yes. Our alarms reach an engineer in seconds, and we contact you with what we see rather than waiting for a ticket.
Can I see the monitoring for my own circuit? Yes. Customer circuit probes come with a dashboard your staff can log into.
How long do you keep the data? Circuit probe results are stored permanently. Device metrics and logs are retained so that incidents can be reconstructed after the fact.
Do you monitor from outside your own network? Yes. Our RIPE Atlas anchor gives us a continuous view from probes around the world.
