A new home for EuroVPS: managed hosting, the way we run it

The new eurovps.com is live. It says, in plain language, what we build and run every day, and it is the first step of a direction we have chosen on purpose.

TL;DR
  • EuroVPS is evolving, growing, and focusing on the future.
  • The client area now carries the same design, and every enquiry form lands with an engineer rather than a queue.
  • Next: a Greek edition of the site, more engineering notes, and two services we are naming for the first time.

Why the site changed

A hosting website usually lists plans and prices and hopes you pick one. Ours did some of that too. It no longer does, because it no longer describes how we work. EuroVPS is run as a boutique: a deliberately small number of customers, each known by name to the engineers who look after them, on servers, storage and a network that we own and operate ourselves. The new site is written from that position. Where the old pages told you what a VPS is, the new ones tell you what we do with yours.

There is a second reason, and it is the larger one. The commodity end of hosting, small virtual machines, undersized servers and prices set by whoever is cheapest this month, has run its course. What is left that is worth doing is the high end: solutions sized to real workloads, run by people who answer for them. We have never competed on price; we provide a service that, frankly, is hard to find anywhere else, and it makes no sense to keep offering machines that are undersized by design or out of step with what serious work needs today. From here on, EuroVPS provides high-end solutions and above, for the customer who wants the best and has had enough of the recurring problems that come with the other kind of hosting.

What you will find

The structure follows the questions people bring us. Products are the four ways we host work: managed VPS, dedicated servers, private cloud and GPU servers, with sizing tools that ask for your real usage before they propose anything. Solutions are the moves we are asked to make: leaving public cloud, migrating a datacenter, hosting an agency's portfolio. What we do is new: fifty-four pages, one per capability, from our own network and fabric to the storage arrays, the monitoring, the vulnerability response and the platforms we run for customers, each with a companion article that goes into the detail.

The blog has become the engine room's notebook. The posts are field notes: how we measure before we repatriate, why our VMs ship without swap, why we buy the better machine, what we learned from ten years of a customer opening ten tickets. They are written to be useful to someone who runs infrastructure, whether or not they ever host with us.

The client area too

my.eurovps.com has moved to the same design, from sign-in to invoices to tickets, and the same type and colours carry into the emails you receive from us. Nothing changed functionally: your services, invoices and tickets are where they were. It is one system now, from the first page you read to the invoice you pay.

What comes next

A Greek edition of the site, written for Greek customers rather than translated word for word, is in preparation. Two services that have long been part of how we work now stand on their own: proactive monitoring, where we open the ticket before you notice, is getting its page, and the outsourced CTO service, for companies that need an infrastructure decision maker without hiring one, already has one. And the engineering notes continue; there is a long list.

Existing customers keep their current systems, services and prices for as long as their contracts run. When a contract lapses or expires it is not renewed at the old terms, and no new service is sold at the legacy price points.

If you read something on the new site that is unclear, or a page that does not answer the question you came with, tell us. The site is run the way the infrastructure is run: by the people who make it happen, 24/7/365.

Straight answers

Did my client area login change?+

No. Same address, same credentials, same services and invoices. Only the design changed.

Are the old links still valid?+

Yes. Every address from the previous site resolves to its new equivalent in a single step.

Where do enquiries go now?+

To an engineer. Every form on the site creates a ticket that a named person answers; there is no sales queue in between.

What are
you running?

Tell us about the workload, traffic and recovery requirements. Start with the server builder, or talk through the details with an engineer.

Written by the engineers who build and run the infrastructure it describes.
