ICANN Registration Data Policy changes

The ICANN Registration Data Policy (RDP) is now officially in effect. This update is part of ICANN’s ongoing effort to standardize and safeguard domain registration data across registrars and registries.

Key Changes

Registries Moving to THIN Data Models

Some registries will now only require limited (THIN) contact data. No action is required from you. EuroVPS will continue collecting all four contact types (Registrant, Admin, Tech, Billing), but we will only transmit the data required by each registry.

Registrant Organization as the Legal Owner
As of 21 August 2025:

  • If the Organization field is filled, that organization becomes the Registered Name Holder (legal owner) of the domain.
  • If the Organization field is left blank, the individual registrant will be considered the legal owner.
  • For privacy, the Registrant Organization field will be redacted by default in WHOIS/RDAP.

Action Required for Compliance
We recommend informing your customers or team about the importance of the Organization field and reviewing your existing processes to ensure compliance with the Registration Data Policy.
