As part of our commitment to providing a secure, stable, and high-performance hosting environment, EuroVPS has officially ended support for several legacy operating systems that have reached their End-of-Life (EOL).
This FAQ explains which systems are affected, why the change is necessary, and the recommended next steps.
Which Operating Systems Are No Longer Supported?
EuroVPS no longer provides support for the following operating systems:
Linux:
- CentOS 6 – EOL: November 30, 2020
- CentOS 7 – EOL: June 30, 2024
- CloudLinux 7 – EOL: June 30, 2024
- Ubuntu 18.04 LTS – EOL: May 31, 2023
- Ubuntu 20.04 LTS – End of standard support: April 30, 2025
- Debian 9 – EOL: June 30, 2022
- Debian 10 – EOL: June 30, 2024
Windows:
- Windows Server 2003 – EOL: July 14, 2015
- Windows Server 2008 R2 – EOL: January 14, 2020
- Windows Server 2012 (Standard) – EOL: October 10, 2023
- Windows Server 2016 – Mainstream support ended: January 11, 2022
These operating systems have stopped receiving official security updates, making them vulnerable to critical threats and incompatibilities.
Why Is This Change Being Made?
Continuing to host outdated systems introduces serious risks, including:
- Unpatched security vulnerabilities
- Incompatibility with modern software
- Regulatory and compliance failures
- Reduced performance and stability
EuroVPS aims to ensure that all clients operate in a secure, well-supported environment with access to up-to-date software and protections.
What Happens If You Continue Using an Unsupported Operating System?
If your server is still running any of the unsupported systems mentioned above:
- EuroVPS will no longer provide regular support or maintenance
- Only emergency support (such as for server-down situations) will be available
- EuroVPS will not assist with software issues, configuration changes, or patching on these systems
EuroVPS Enforcement Policy for CentOS 6 and CentOS 7
- CentOS 6 is no longer permitted on the EuroVPS network. If a CentOS 6 or older system is detected, EuroVPS may restrict, suspend, or take the server offline to protect the EuroVPS network, customers, and third parties.
- CentOS 7 is also end-of-life and must be replaced with a supported operating system. Customers running CentOS 7 must migrate to a supported operating system within 30 days from the date EuroVPS sends a direct notice to the affected customer, unless a separate migration plan has been agreed with EuroVPS in writing.
If no action is taken within the notice period, EuroVPS may restrict support, request urgent migration, or take additional protective action where the server presents a security, abuse, or compliance risk.
Applicability to Other Unsupported Operating Systems
This policy also applies to other severely outdated or end-of-life operating systems, including but not limited to older versions of RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, Windows Server, and other Linux or Windows operating systems that no longer receive reliable vendor security updates.
